CyboSoft Will Host pH Control Training at 4C Conference 2018
March 1, 2018 – CyboSoft (Rancho Cordova, California), the developer of Model-Free Adaptive (MFA) control technology and products, has announced that it will conduct a 2-hour training class at 4C Conference 2018 to implement Model-Free Adaptive (MFA) pH control systems to help industries meet wastewater discharge codes and significantly reduce chemical reagent usage. The training class is open to all 4C conference attendees and will be held from 10am to 12pm, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Marriott Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, Texas.
CyboSoft CEO Dr. George Cheng said, “We are entering the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, where everything is supposed to be ‘smart’. Ironically, about 90% of industrial wastewater pH processes are still controlled by on-off Bang-Bang control or PID control, resulting in chemical reagent wastes, equipment corrosion, and environmental pollution. We provide software tools and control solutions to help the industry improve control systems and achieve better safety, higher quality, and lower costs.”
The following CyboCon MFA Control Software screen shows that the Anti-delay MFA pH controller can effectively control a pH process with large time delays while PID fails miserably.
Most process plants generate a wastewater effluent that must be neutralized prior to discharge or reuse. Statistics show that a poorly controlled pH process can cost tens of thousands of dollars in chemical usage each month, equipment corrosion, process down time, as well as penalties imposed by violating EPA or local discharge codes. A pH process is extremely nonlinear. The pH value versus the reagent flow has a logarithmic relationship. Away from neutrality, the process gain is relatively small. Near neutrality, where pH=7, the process gain can be a few thousand times higher. It is almost impossible for a fixed controller like PID to control this process.
In this training class, we will show the behavior of pH processes by running CyboSoft’s Real-Time pH Process Modeling and Control Simulation Software that includes: (1) pH process diagram, (2) a strong-acid-strong-base pH model, (3) a weak-acid-strong-base pH model, (4) a strong-acid-weak-base pH model, (5) a weak-acid-weak-base pH model, (6) MFA control simulation for the 4 pH processes using an MFA pH controller, (7) PID control simulation for the 4 pH processes, (8) On-Off control simulation for the 4 pH processes. We will also discuss how to control dissolved O2, ORP, and Turbidity for water and wastewater applications.
Results of multiple MFA pH control applications will be demonstrated, where customers have achieved substantial technical and economic benefits, including: (1) improved pH control with significant reduction in variability; (2) chemical reagent consumption sharply reduced; (3) compliance of wastewater discharge codes; (4) much less equipment corrosion, (5) higher product quality and production efficiency; and (6) return-on-investment (ROI) achieved in a few months or sooner.
CyboSoft will also offer free consultation during 4C conference and have one-on-one meetings to discuss specific flare control, wastewater process control, or other industrial control applications. Please contact CyboSoft to make reservations.
About CyboSoft
CyboSoft is the leader in control technology serving the worldwide process control, building control, and equipment control markets. CyboSoft’s patented Model-Free Adaptive (MFA) control technology for automatically controlling physical processes is a major breakthrough. No other comparable technology possesses all the attributes of MFA. CyboSoft received the 2007 Frost & Sullivan “North America Technology Leadership Award” in the field of Industrial Automation. MFA is the only commercially successful smart controller that does not require mathematical models.
