Anti-delay MFA pH Controller
When combining the Time-varying MFA and MFA pH control
functions, an Anti-delay MFA pH controller is generated
that can control a pH process with large and varying
time delays.
When a pH process has large varying time delays as well
as large inflow rates and pH changes, the difficulty
for this control loop quadruples. The extremely large
gain changes with varying time delays makes an already
bad situation worse, causing the process to become almost
"uncontrollable." Traditionally, a "bang-bang"
type of control or batch-based pH neutralization would
be the only solution.
The Anti-delay MFA controller has the combined power
of being predictive, adaptive, and robust. It is adaptive
to compensate for the large gain changes, predictive
to deal with large time delays, and robust enough to
handle inflow changes, titration curve moves, and other
uncertainties.
