CyboSoft Announces MFA Embedded in National
Instruments LabVIEW
October 21, 2003 – CyboSoft today
announced the successful integration of CyboSoft's Model Free
Adaptive (MFA) control technology in NI's LabVIEW and LabVIEW
Real-Time environment.
According to National Instruments President and CEO Dr. James
Truchard, "At National Instruments, we remain dedicated
to improving the productivity of our customers by continually
extending our vision for LabVIEW. The embedded MFA controllers
fit our virtual instrumentation strategy well and offer control
engineers an enhanced control capability delivered in the
familiar LabVIEW development environment."
MFA is considered an industry breakthrough and provides adaptive,
robust control for simple and complex systems. MFA controllers
do not require process models that are difficult to develop
and maintain. Once installed, no controller tuning is required.
MFA users have achieved a significant ROI due to improved
product quality, higher efficiency, and reduced energy use.
The inventor of MFA, CyboSoft Chairman Dr. George Cheng said,
"Working with an innovative company like NI has been
a great experience. Two months into the product development,
our technical team was able to finish the embedded MFA project.
MFA controllers can tightly control key variables in a changing
test environment so that lab efficiency can be greatly improved."
LabVIEW is the most widely used software for test, measurement,
and control. From simple data acquisition to advanced embedded
software development, LabVIEW is both user and developer friendly.
The MFA controllers embedded in the LabVIEW Real-Time development
environment can run in a PC, or be downloaded into NI's FieldPoint
distributed I/O or PXI instruments providing high-speed adaptive
control.
In the LabVIEW development software, six embedded MFA controllers
can be selected as functional blocks. They include: SISO MFA
to replace PID to eliminate manual tuning, Nonlinear MFA to
control nonlinear processes, MFA pH controller to control
pH processes, Feedforward MFA to deal with measurable disturbances,
Anti-delay MFA to control processes with large time delays,
and Robust MFA to protect the process variable from running
outside certain boundaries.
Now, to avoid manual tuning or building models, a LabVIEW
user can simply select the appropriate MFA, replace the PID,
configure and launch the controller, and reap the benefits
of adaptive and robust control with no manual tuning and maintenance
required.
